Application Overview

The EforLink UWB Seamless Access Solution combines UWB ranging, smartphone identity association, access permissions, and entrance-device integration to support automatic recognition when an authorized user approaches.

Instead of requiring a card swipe, QR scan, or NFC tap, the UWB system uses distance-aware interaction as part of the acess workflow.

A registered compatible smartphone acts as the user-side UWB device. When the user enters the configured sensing area, UWB ranging provides spatial context, the access controller checks the associated identity and permissions, and the connected entrance device responds according to the configured access rule.

UWB seamless access identity binding and authorization for a registered smartphone user

User Passes Through

The solution is built on UWB technology for accurate ranging and stable proximity triggering. UWB ranging itself does not determine authorization: identity binding, permission verification, controller logic, and entrance-device integration remain part of the complete UWB system.

Typical deployments can integrate turnstiles, automatic barrier gates, doors, locks, or other supported access endpoints. Actual trigger distance and deployment behavior depend on site geometry, device compatibility, application configuration, and access-control integration.

UWB Seamless Access

UWB
Access Process
  • Stop → adjust posture → facial recognition → wait for result → gate opens → resume walking
  • Stop → take out card → present card → wait for verification → gate opens → pass
  • Stop → press finger → wait for verification → gate opens → pass
  • ✓ No stopping and no additional action required; pass through directly
Manual Verification Actions
  • Stop and align with the camera
  • Take out and present a card
  • Place a finger on the reader
  • ✓ No manual verification action during passage after setup and authorization
User Experience
  • Requires cooperation with the recognition posture
  • Requires carrying a physical card
  • Requires active operation and may be affected by hand condition
  • ✓ Seamless access without changing the user's normal walking behavior
User Adaptability
  • Less suitable for some users who cannot easily cooperate with facial recognition
  • Less convenient for some users with hand impairments or wheelchair users
  • Less suitable for users with hand impairments or worn fingerprints
  • ✓ A compatible smartphone or supported UWB tag provides the credential; recognition requires no additional gesture

*The comparison describes typical access methods. Performance varies by device, configuration, and operating conditions. Recognition speed refers to the recognition stage, not the total time required for authorization, gate opening, or passage.

CORE FEATURES

Centimeter-Level Spatial AwarenessUWB ranging for precise approach detection and automatic recognition in a smartphone-based seamless access system

Based on UWB time-of-flight (ToF) ranging, the solution provides centimeter-level distance measurement for precise proximity detection.
The UWB Recognition Module supports:
• Omnidirectional spatial recognition
• Adjustable recognition distance from 0 to 20 m
• Concurrent recognition of up to 20 tags
The sensing distance can be configured for the access area. Actual sensing performance and concurrent capacity depend on deployment conditions and configuration; the tag capacity does not specify simultaneous smartphone capacity.

Automatic Identity Recognition UWB device identity binding connecting authorized smartphone credentials with seamless access control workflows

When an authorized user approaches the preset sensing area, the UWB Recognition Module detects the user's spatial position and identity information.
Once the preset trigger conditions are met, identity information is sent to the existing access control system for authorization.
No additional user action is required during the recognition process.

Secure Identity & Privacy Protection Configurable UWB system access trigger combining distance, identity, and permission verification for automatic entry

The solution uses a unique ID for user recognition and does not require the collection of facial, fingerprint, or other biometric information.
Encrypted communication helps protect exchanged information.
Scrambled Timestamp Sequence (STS) supports secure UWB ranging and helps resist manipulation of ranging signals. The access control system remains responsible for verifying access permissions.

Stable & Reliable Operation UWB applications integrating smartphones, SDK, access controllers, turnstiles, smart locks, and third-party entrance equipment

Centimeter-level UWB ranging provides accurate spatial sensing with high concurrency and strong interference resistance.
The solution is less affected by external environmental conditions and supports:
• Ranging that does not rely on lighting or camera viewing angle
• Offline operation in supported configurations
• Integration across different access environments

Flexible Integration & Retrofit Deployment UWB system supporting local credential verification and offline access through configured controller logic without continuous cloud communication

The UWB Recognition Module provides multiple hardware interfaces for integration with existing access control infrastructure.
It supports:
• Wiegand input and output
• RS485 communication
• RS232 communication
• NO / COM / NC switch interfaces
• Third-party turnstile and access control device integration
• A smartphone SDK for custom app development
The solution supports retrofit integration with compatible access control systems, retaining the existing access control platform and devices.
The UWB Recognition Module provides identity-trigger information, while the existing access control system continues to complete identity authorization and control the access device.
